The Earth Is What We All Have In Common

An old Kenyan proverb reads as follows: “Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents. It is loaned to you by your children.” At Mnarani, this proverb is the essence of how they get things done. Mnarani is a business after all, and businesses have been known to cause toxic harm to our environments. Many businesses are opting for more environmentally sustainable practices, and Mnarani was quick to jump on the band wagon.

Did you know…?

  • The water at Mnarani is mostly borehole water, which goes through a rigid de-sanitisation process.

Two staff members underwent training to manage this process and equipment effectively.

  • The water tanks save up enough borehole water to sustain the entire Resort for five days.
  • The water-works at the crazy golf course consists of recycled waste water from the purification process.
  • Leftover food and produce is donated to the needy in surrounding towns.
  • Mnarani has fostered healthy relationships with local fisherman. Mnarani purchases fresh produce from them, and then helps guide them to appropriate fishing areas. This is done to avoid depletion of the fishing reserves and harm to the delicate eco-system.
  • What’s for dinner? Let the greenhouse and veggie gardens decide what’s fresh, readily available and super-tasty.

The emphasis in on enriching personal experiences for guests, whilst taking care of the beautiful natural surroundings and delicate eco-systems of this area. Did you know, mangroves are an endangered species with more than 35% of the world’s mangroves already depleted? This merely adds to the importance of conserving the area and its inhabitants.
