Preserving Nature’s Lifeline:  Tree Planting Day at Mnarani Beach Club

In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Kenyan government has restated its dedication to the restoration and conservation of water catchment areas across the country. President Willliam Ruto emphasised the importance of safeguarding these crucial ecosystems by working together to rehabilitate and conserve degraded landscapes through planting trees. Planting trees plays an important role in conserving water catchment areas by preventing soil erosion, replenishing vegetation, enhancing groundwater recharge, and ultimately regulating the flow of water in streams and rivers.

President Ruto has urged Kenyans to plant at least 30 trees each year. Mnarani Beach Club has taken proactive steps in support of the government’s initiative through various drives including the National Tree Planting Campaign which was held on the 13th of November 2023, in celebration of the tree planting holiday. Hotel guests were invited to join the event, coinciding with two conference events. During the tree planting ceremony, participants gathered to plant trees, with Mr. Daniel facilitating the procurement of over 100 tree seedlings donated by the old farm near the soccer field.

By recognising the significance of water catchment areas in maintaining ecological balance and securing water resources for future generations, we have pledged our commitment to do our part. It’s encouraging to witness other entities, such as the Kenya Wildlife Service, engaging in similar initiatives, exemplified by their planting of over 5000 trees in Nairobi National Park, all geared towards a greener Kenya for all.

You might wonder why we’re committed to fulfilling President Ruto’s request. We aim to fulfill our social responsibility of preserving the natural beauty of water catchment areas, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the best that Kenya has to offer including an enriching experience at Mnarani. By collaborating with local communities, Resort guests, and environmental organisations, we seek to foster a culture of environmental stewardship in and around Mnarani Beach Club that will stand the test of time.

Embracing President Ruto’s call is not just a commitment for Mnarani Beach Club; it is a shared responsibility and a step towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
